#15 Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds
The Beatles
It would be an absolutely sick joke if this one didn't make it to the list. Rumoured to be the initials for LSD, John Lennon steadfastly denied that Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds was about drugs💊. Lennon instead consistently claimed that the song was a response to a "picture painted by his son." While others have drawn a different conclusion, we just like to think it's about the Lucy in all of us... dancing with kaleidoscope sun-filled 🌞 eyes 👀 in a sky full of diamonds 💍.
#14 Shiny Happy People
R.E.M
R.E.M tried super hard to scrub this track from the history books. In true style of the band the chorus of song is actually based on a Chinese 🇨🇳 propaganda poster. The slogan "Shiny happy people holding hands" is used ironically to describe the uprising in Tiananmen Square when the Chinese government clamped down on student demonstrators, killing hundreds of them. Sounds like a festival song hey? "Shiny happy people holding hands. Shiny happy people holding hands. Shiny happy people laughing."

A ferocious battle anthem with rapid fire vocals interspersed with a machine gun-like guitar which is very fitting seeing as this one is inspired by the 1983 gangster movie Scarface. "All the gold and the guns in the world (couldn't get you off)..."

Any film clip featuring ketamine silver robots 🤖 swaying in time has us hooked. Check out this clip for the best intergalactic dance party, with falsetto vocals colliding with swirling synths and surf rock guitars. This classic by Perth band Pond is a psychedelic Sunday drive home from a festival type vibe. What it means? Who the fuck knows. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

LCD Soundsystem
James Murphy was rumoured to have transformed their studio with silver fabric and tin foil to best capture "the sound of silver" while making music. This damn good fusion of rock 🤟, dance 💃 music and five lines was perhaps THE soundtrack that turned LCD Soundsystem into one of America's most important bands. Chant it with us - "Sound of silver talk to me. Makes you want to feel like a teenager."

Shine is the kind of tune you learn the words to like you’re a parrot 🦜: you know the lyrics by heart, but never actually sit back to consider what they mean 🤔. If you do stop for a seccy you can’t go past the blatant fact it is about death. Suicide, to be exact. One moment Amorosi is singing about "banging your head" or "drowning in a hole", next “everyone you know is going to shine”. We love that this OG 90's track puts a positive spin on death and mental wellness. Before you know, it was popular to do so. P.s. Originally the word Shine was "die"🙊 .

I think lot of people can relate to having tingles in their stomach about a special somebody. The person in which it feels and is golden ⚜️⚱️🪞⚱️⚜️ with. The feeling of love and being held. Despite this song being about a romantic relationship Travie also talks about his love for Sia and making Golden. "When we finally [met] we were totally kindred spirits. We have this brotherly-sisterly vibe going on."

OMFGosh. Kanye and Jay Z joining forces in a TRACK. Look we know that Kanye is all a bit random these days and kinda cancelled. But that doesn't take away from the fact this one is an absolute BANGER 🥳. It is actually about blood diamonds from Sierra Leone and also admittedly the rappers wealth. At the beginning of the music clip a quote from Kanye is cited "Little is know of Sierra Leone and how it connects to the diamonds we own."
